This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming our partners from Turkey to Kaunas for a two-day study visit as part of the CLIMPS – Twinning for 2030 Climate Change Action Plan Model project. The visit was packed with meaningful discussions, inspiring company visits, and powerful exchanges that brought our collaboration to life.
Day 1 – Business, Governance & Shared Experiences
Our day began at the Kaunas Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts, where we were welcomed with a presentation by Joana Ramanauskaitė on Corporate Sustainability Maturity Assessment in Lithuania.
Participants also gained insights from inspiring Lithuanian companies leading the way in sustainability:
MB Ecogrant – helping SMEs adopt circular economy practices and access green funding
UAB Gerovė – a social enterprise that combines eco-friendly production with inclusive employment
AB Kauno Grūdai – a pioneer in sustainable food production, using energy-efficient processes and renewables
Audimas Supplying – part of the Audimas Group, promoting responsible textile manufacturing with a strong focus on sustainable supply chains and innovation in sportswear and apparel
The afternoon continued with a visit to the Kaunas District Municipality, where we discussed local strategies for climate adaptation, infrastructure, and inclusive development. We also had the opportunity to hear from:
Kauno RATC – the regional waste management center implementing a sustainable waste management system in the Kaunas region, including waste collection, recycling, and disposal
Hegelmann Group – a leading logistics company showcasing their commitment to sustainability through initiatives like installing solar power plants and expanding their fleet with alternative fuel vehicles
After a traditional Lithuanian lunch, we gathered at Ažuolynas Library to reflect on project progress, share ideas, and align our next steps.
Day 2 – Innovation & Empowerment
We kicked off with a visit to Aconitum, a leading herbal medicine and biotech producer in Lithuania. The group was impressed by their use of renewable energy, modern production technologies, and sustainability-driven innovation.
The second half of the day brought us to the Business Women’s Association (BWA), where we had an empowering conversation about female entrepreneurship, leadership, and inclusive economic growth.
