On 13 and 22 July, training sessions were held as part of the UpSkilling Coaches project, focusing on women’s opportunities in the sports sector, professional development of coaches, leadership, and the creation of a more inclusive sporting environment.
During the sessions, participants discussed women’s career opportunities in sport, the main barriers they may face when pursuing a coaching career, and possible practical solutions. Particular attention was given to gender stereotypes, the importance of mentoring and professional networks, inclusive coaching, and the visibility of women in the sports community.
Participants shared their own experiences, discussed real-life situations, and explored ways in which sports organisations can create more opportunities for women to grow, develop, and pursue coaching careers. Through practical activities and group discussions, the participants identified key challenges and proposed concrete solutions.
The training sessions also created space for networking, knowledge exchange, and sharing good practices. The insights and experiences gathered during the events will contribute to further project activities and support the development of a more inclusive sports environment based on equal opportunities.
We would like to thank everyone who took part for their active participation, open discussions, valuable ideas, and shared experiences.
The activities were implemented as part of the European Union co-funded project “UpSkilling Coaches”.
